by Micha F. Lindemans
A hero of two Sumerian poems (albeit incomplete). He is a forerunner of Gilgamesh on the throne of Uruk. In the Sumerian King-List he is placed second after the flood. In these poems the king is in conflict with the ruler of another state called Aratta (in the Persian highlands). The case of the quarrel is of a commercial nature. As may be expected Uruk is victorious.
