by Micha F. Lindemans
Jamm is the water and sea god of the Ugarits in Asia Minor, but later also of the Phoenicians. He is a very vain god and his ambition to rule has brought him into conflict with many other gods. He was defeated when he tried to usurp the throne of Baal. Jamm is portrayed both as a man and a sea monster. One of his nicknames is 'Lord River'.
