Loon
by Gerald Musinsky
Owing to its unique appearance and mysterious call, it is an animal of many folklore tales and variants among many of the North Woodland tribes.
Specific tales can be found among the Pawnee, Passamoquaddy, and Ojbwa. In a Povungnituk story, Loon restores the sight of Blind Boy (Iumaaq) and in a Tsimshian he restores the site of Blind Man (Gitqada).
