The Paiute prophet and originator of the Ghost Dance of 1890 was declared the Red Man's Messiah. A prophet of peace, the Ghost Dance led to the Wounded Knee Massacre in which between 150 and 300 Sioux people were killed, most of whom were unarmed. Also known as Jack Wilson, born near Walker Lake, Nevada, USA (1856-1932).
