Amphisthenes

A Lacedaemonian, son of Amphicles, and father of Irbus. His grandsons Astrabacus and Alopecus discovered a long-lost wooden statue of Artemis, which was brought from Tauris by Orestes and Iphigeneia. The two boys became insane when they laid eyes on it.
