Cimmerians

A mythical people, referred to by Homer¹ as living at the edge of the earth in a country covered in mist and cloud. It is a place where the sun never shines. Ovid² describes it as a land of perpetual darkness and silence, lying "beyond the north wind." Their land is home to the god of sleep Somnus.
