gally-trot

The name of an apparition that frightened many people in the neighborhood of Woodbridge, Suffolk. The gally-trot sometimes assumed the shape of a dog and gave chase to those who ran away from it. Its appearance was sometimes as big as a (white) bullock with an undefined outline.
