Heb. kinam, the creatures employed in the third plagues sent upon Egypt. They were miraculously produced from the dust of the land when Aaron struck the ground with his rod. Pharaoh's magicians were unable to bring forth lice with their enchantments, but Pharaoh still refused to free the Israelites.

The plague of lice is referred to in Ps. 105:31.
