Nappakandattha

Among the Warramunga it is believed that the rainbow issues from a vent of a water snake named Nappakandattha, in the form of a red oval plate. In one tradition, the Nappakandattha snake during the course of his travels is reported to have stolen a tjurunga from Wollunqua and then to have run away.
