Neititua Abine

In the myths of the people of Kiribati, Neititua Abine is the goddess of vegetation. She has a red skin and eyes which flash like lightning. King Auriaria, a red giant, fell in love with her and married her. Soon after their marriage however, his wife died and was buried. Out of her head grew the coconut tree, out of her navel the almond tree, and out of her feet the pandanus tree (palm).
