peallaidh
A Scottish Gaelic spirit believed to haunt rivers, lakes, and the seashore. It is the regional variation of the ùruisg, both being subspecies of fuath. The peallaidh has long, untidy hair.
Two of these spirits were said to have lived near the town of Aberfeldy (Aberpheallaidh) — the Pealleidh an Spùit lived in the Upper Falls of Moness and the Brùnaidh an Easain in the Lower Falls.
