Pierides

A patronymic given to the nine daughters of king Pierus by Antigone or Evippe. They challenged the Muses to a contest but lost, and were transformed into gabbling magpies. See also Emathides.

The Pierides are Acalanthis, Cenchris, Chloris, Cissa, Colymbas, Dracontis, Iynx, Nessa, and Pipo.
