Yeddeoni

Contributed by Rabbi Geoffrey W. Dennis

"wizard, medium." Derived from the Hebrew verb "know," the name has the sense of one "familiar with" spirits or the dead. Such a person is punishable by death in the Bible. According to the Talmud, it is a medium that places a bone in his mouth and then channels the voice of the dead spirit.
