Alcinoe
The daughter of Polybus of Corinth, and wife of Amphilochus, son of Dryas. Because she refused to compensate a spinner for her work, the goddess Athena made her fall in love with Xanthus, a young man from Samos. She betrayed her husband and sailed away with Xanthus, but in the middle of the voyage she realized what she had done and in desperation threw herself into the sea.
