Alectryon

"Rooster." A youth whom Ares placed as a guardian at the door when he visited Aphrodite. The youth, however, fell asleep, and their lovemaking was discovered by Helios. As punishment Alectryon was changed into a rooster, which since then unceasingly announces the arrival of the sun.
