Arimaspians

A mythical tribe of one-eyed men who lived at the foot of the Riphean Mountains. They stole — or attempted to steal — the gold of the mountain-dwelling Grypes (griffins), which led to the hostility between the horse and the griffin.

They were mentioned in the (lost) work Arimaspea from the Greek poet Aristeas.
