centauride

One of the female members of the race of centaurs, with the upper torso of a woman and the lower body of a horse. One of the centaurides is Hylonome.

Iconography

The centaurides are seldom mentioned in Greek literature, but a few depictions survive (mainly Roman era mosaics and reliefs). Greek representations have been described by Philostratus of Lemnos.
