Eldir

"Fire-stoker." One of the two servants of Ægir. The other servant, Fimafeng, was killed by Loki, whereupon the gods exclaimed against him and chased him into the forest. Loki turned back and found Eldir standing outside the hall. The servant warned Loki not to enter because he would not find friends in words inside, whereupon Loki replied:

I will go into Ægir's halls,

to see the compotation.

Strife and hate

to the Æsir's sons I bear,

and will mix their mead with bale.
