Gorm-sùil

"Blue-eye." The name of a celebrated witch, although the name may have been given to more than one old woman. It is said to originate from a witch who had one black or brown eye and the other blue. The name is, however, a corruption of the Gaelic name Gormla.

A notorious witch from the village of Hynish on the island of Tiree was called Gormshuil. See also Gormla Mòr.
