Grindylow

A nymph or water-sprite. She lurked at the bottom of a pit and with her long sinewy arms dragged in and drowned children. Probably the same as Jenny Greenteeth. Both were used to keep children from venturing too close to pits and pools. See also Darrant and Peg Powler.
