hrímþursar

"frost giants." A race of jötnar. They are giants who are made of ice and who inhabit the realm of Niflheimr. They are the descendants of the male and female who grew under the armpits of the primeval giant Ymir, and the six-headed son which his two feet begot.

The hrímþursar are mentioned in various eddic poems and by Snorri Sturluson in his account of the beginning of the world.
