Norðri

"North." Snorri Sturluson says in Gylfaginning that after the gods had killed Ymir, they took his skull and made of it the heaven. They set it up over the earth with four corners, and under each corner they placed a dwarf. Norðri supports the northern corner of the heaven, while Austri, Suðri and Vestri support the east, south, and west corners respectively. The four are listed in the catalog of dwarfs in Völuspá (13) and in the Nafnaþulur.

Snorri Sturluson says that heaven can be periphrased as Task or Burden of the Dwarves, or Helm of Vestri and Austri, Suðri, or Norðri.
