Salgófnir

The cock who awakens heroes from sleep, presumably including the warriors sleeping in Valhalla. In a conversation between the deceased hero Helgi Hundingsbane and his beloved Sigrún, he says to her:

Skal ek fyr vestan vindhjálms brúar, áðr Salgófnir sigrþjóð veki.

"I must be west of the bridges of heaven before Salgófnir wakes the victory-host."
