Sterope

The seventh of the Pleiades, the wife of Oenomaus,1 and according to Pausanias,2 the daughter of Atlas. Hyginus3 makes her the mother of Oenomaus by Ares. By Oenomaus she is the mother of Hippodamia.

Some relate that she became invisible from shame, because she alone among her sisters had intercourse with a mortal man.
