Uriah

"The Lord is my light." A Hittite officer, one of the band of David's "mighty men." His wife Bathsheba was seduced by David. The king wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. In the letter he instructed, "Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, so that he may be struck down and die." Uriah was indeed killed in battle. Bathsheba lamented the death of her husband, and when the mourning was over, David brought her to his house and made her his wife.
