Afi and Amma

Afi ("Grandfather") and Amma ("Grandmother") were the second couple visited by mysterious wanderer Rígr on his travels. When he entered their dwelling he found Afi and his wife Amma sitting on the floor, engaged in work. He slept between his hosts for three consecutive nights before continuing his journey. Nine months later Amma gave birth to a son, whom they named Karl. He became the ancestor of the race of churls.

The next couple Rígr visited were Faðir and Móðir.
