"Gravel-bidder." According to Völuspá hin skamma, a giantess, the wife of a certain Gýmir. Their daughter was Gerðr, the fairest of all women and the wife of Freyr:

Frey to wife had Gerd,

she was Gymir's daughter,

from Jötuns sprung and Aurboda;
