Eidothea

One of the haliae, sea-nymphs. She was the daughter of Proteus, the old man of the sea. Her mother is sometimes mentioned as Psamathe1 or Ido. She instructed Menelaus, in the island of Pharos at the mouth of the river Aegyptus, in what manner he might secure her father and compel him to say in what way he should return home.
