Fors
A surname of Fortuna. After the defeat of the Samnites in 299 BCE, Sp. Carvilius Maximus used part of the spoils to build a temple to Fors Fortuna, near a temple dedicated to the same goddess by Servius Tullius. The temple was located in the fourteenth region of the city. Tacitus1 mentions that Teberius built or restored a temple of Fors Fortuna around 16 CE.
The festival of Fors Fortuna was, according to Ovid,2 a time of great revelry for the plebs, and was held on June 24.
