Habakkuk

"Embrace." The eighth of the minor prophets. He was a priest who lived in the seventh century BCE, during the reigns of Jehoiakim and Josiah. His book, the thirteenth of the prophetic and the thirty-fifth of the Old Testament, was probably written in the mid-to-late seventh century BCE. It denounces Chaldea, and concludes with a striking poem and prayer.

The passage in 2:4, "The just shall live by his faith," is quoted by the apostle in Romans 1:17.
