hantu

The Malay word denoting any type of invisible, frightening being; a spirit, ghost, or demon. They are supposed to cause various diseases. Some of them are hantu ribut, hantu rimba, hantu kubor, hantu pari, hantu kamong, and hantu bĕlian.
