Líf and Lífþrasir

The two humans, a woman and man, who are foretold to survive the cataclysmic events of Ragnarök. They will have hidden themselves in Hoddmímir's forest during Fimbulvetr and sustain themselves on morning dew. Líf ("Life") and Lífþrasir ("Lif's lover") will become the progenitors of a new generation of humans and these will repeople the earth.

The story is also found in Gylfaginning, but there they lie hidden in Hoddmímir's holt during the fires brought forth by Surtr.
