Mataaho
A chief, a descendant of Tūa-roto-rua. He and his tribe occupied the island of Mokoia. Mataaho, with his friend Kawaarere, killed Pōtaka-tāwhiti, the dog of Ue-nuku-kopako, and this led to fierce war in the Rotorua country.
