Nephele
"Cloud." An Oceanid, the first consort of Athamas. She is the mother of Phrixus and Helle. When Athamas banished her, his second wife Ino plotted against Nephele's children and attempted to sacrifice Phrixus to the gods. Before Ino could carry out her plan, Nephele had a golden ram carry her children to safety (see Golden Fleece).
