Nimrod

"Firm." A descendant of Cush, the son of Ham, and great-grandson of Noah. He was the first who claimed to be a "mighty one in the earth" and "a mighty hunter before God." The beginning of his kingdom was Babel (Babylon), Erech (Uruk), Accad (Akkad), and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah (Kalhu), and Resen between Nineveh and Calah.
