Pauiriraira
One of the canoes in which the ancestors of the Māori people came from Hawaiki to New Zealand. This canoe is said to have preceded that of Kupe. The chief Rakataura told Kupe of the existence of New Zealand. Rakataura, and the Pauiriraira went back to Hawaiki and remained there.
