Peketua

The deity who formed the first egg. He took it to Tāne and asked him what he should do with it. Tāne replied, "Give it life," and that egg produced the reptile called tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus). This was during the time when Tāne was seeking to establish mortals. Other eggs were produced by Punaweko and Hurumanu.
