Pu-whakahara

"Great origin." A Māori goddess. Fertilized by Tāne, she produced various trees, among which the maire, puriri, kahika (a creeper or vine), and the ake-rau-tangi (ake, tree of the weeping leaf).

The bark of the kahika-tea and ake-rau-tangi is made into a house in which Kāhukura may dwell.
