Rhodope

A naiad from Thrace, daughter of the river Strymon. She married Haemus, the king of Thrace, and became by him the mother of Hebrus. Haemus and Rhodope initiated a cult in which they called themselves "Zeus" and "Hera." The gods took offense and transformed them into mountains (the Despoto in the Balkan).
