Tia
One of the ancestral Māori chiefs who arrived in the Arawa canoe. He settled at Titiraupenga, at Taupo, and there remained. The full name of Taupo is Taupō-nui-a-Tia, "the great cloak of Tia," after Tia who discovered the nearby lake, Lake Taupo.
