Tupu-ranga-o-te-pō

"Growth of darkness." The name of the doorkeeper of the spirit-world who led Tāne to see his wife, and opened the door of the world of darkness to allow Tāne to follow her; but when he had seen the blackness he was afraid, and was not brave to follow her, and drew back.
