Alfröðull

"Elf-beam." Another name for the sun, Sól. In Vafþrúðnismál it is said that Alfröðull shall bear a daughter before Fenrir snatches her from the sky, and that this daughter shall tread her mother's path after the gods have perished at Ragnarök (there seems to be a confusion here between Fenrir and Sköll).

In skaldic verse Alfröðull occurs as a kenning for the sun.
