Ceto

"Sea-monster." A sea goddess, the personification of the threats of the sea, daughter of Gaea and Pontus. She is the sister and wife of Phorcys and is by him the mother of Ladon, the Gorgons, the Graeae, and Echidna — although the latter is also mentioned as a child of Tartarus and Gaea.
