Gjallarbrú

"Bridge over the river Gjöll." In the story of Baldr's death, the bridge that spans the river Gjöll in the underworld and which must be crossed to reach Hel. It is thatched with glittering gold and is guarded by the maiden Móðguðr. Hermóðr traversed the bridge when he went to Hel to plead for his brother's release.
