Hróðvitnir

"Fame-wolf." The father of Hati Hróðvitnisson, the wolf that will swallow the moon, according to Grímnismál.

It seems to be another name for the wolf Fenrir. In Lokasenna, Týr says to Loki that Fenrir may have torn off his right hand, but that Loki has lost his "famed-wolf" (hróðrsvitnir) and that the animal shall remain bound until Ragnarök.

"Handar em ek vanr,
en þú hróðrsvitnis,
öl er beggja þrá;
ulfgi hefir ok vel,
er í böndum skal
bíða ragnarökrs."
"My hand do I lack,
but Hrothvitnir thou,
And the loss brings longing to both;
Ill fares the wolf
who shall ever await
In fetters the fall of the gods."
— Bellows trans.

There is no other mention of Fenrir having any offspring.

The Thorpe edition translates the word as "honest fame."
