ljósálfar

"light elves." A class of álfar. They dwell in Álfheimr, one of the nine worlds, underneath the realm of the gods. Snorri Sturluson describes them as "fairer to look upon than the sun," as opposed to the svartálfar, the black elves, who "are blacker than pitch." He later adds that the light elves inhabit Gimlé, a mansion located in the third heaven Víðbláinn.
