Lost Tribes

The ten Hebrew tribes that separated from the other two in order to create a kingdom in northern Israel after the death of Solomon. The Assyrians, led by Sargon II, defeated them ca. 720 BCE. They were deported to captivity in Assyria,1 but legend predicts their return.

The ten tribes are Asher, Dan, Gad, Issachar, Levi, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, and Zebulun.
