Ruawhango

A tipua who is popularly supposed to occupy a cave to the south of Kawhia. Presumably Ruawhango is a spirit, but no one has ever seen it, although its voice has often been heard warning those who came to gather shell-fish to desist from injuring the offspring of the tipua.
