Tiu

A god of the wind, son of Tāwhiri-mā-tea with whom he ruled the northwest wind. They were the chief wind gods. Another tradition says that Tiu was brother of Tangaroa and Tāwhiri-mā-tea, and that their sister, Poko-harua-te-pō, was the first wife of Rangi.

Tiu's daughter was Hine-i-tapapa-uta.
