Haunga-roa

In the legend of the curse of Manaia, the daughter of chief Manaia of Hawaiki and Kuiwai. Her mother sent her and four other female companions to New Zealand to warn her brother Ngātoro that Manaia had cursed him.

Haunga-roa brought the image of the war god Maru, as well as the gods Hangaroa and Rongo-mai, to New Zealand.
